Sun Dice, 1949
Formatting
Silkscreen on canvas
10 x 15.375 in
25 x 38 cm
Very rare limited-edition
Titled and signed "Matta" in the plate

Created for the 1949 "Mural Scrolls" portfolio, published in New York.
Historical note: this screenprint was issued in order to promote the sale of a large mural by Roberto Sebastian Matta, that would have been an astonishing 6 x 10 feet in size, also printed on canvas; an edition of 200 was planned for the full-size murals but it remains unclear if any were ever released. This smaller-size version that we offer here is now quite rare. The other artists who collaborated in this project were Joan Miro, Alexander Calder and Henri Matisse.
