Reverend Howard Finster's Wild Kingdom!
May 3 - June 30, 2013
The World's Most Famous Folk Artist comes to San Miguel de Allende, Mexico for a premiere one-man exhibition in Latin America!
Known for his colorful and quirky interpretations of animals, pop art objects as well as famous historical figures, Rev. Howard Finster had his first "vision" to create art while painting a bicycle; a ghostly figure appeared in the excess paint dripping off his index finger instructing him that people were not paying his sermons head so he needed to "Paint Sacred Art..." in order to memorialize his message!
Never one to ignore a sign from his Maker, Reverend Finster put his Sunday suit and bible away and began what turned into a later life passion with the building of his aptly named "Paradise Garden" along with paintings and sculptures which he would sell from his gift store that in turn paid for the upkeep of his 5 acre theme park dedicated to God....
The exhibition will feature over 40 unique works created over a twenty year period - opening reception May 3 from 5 to 8pm and runs through June 30...
