Limited-edition Catalogue raisonné: Bool #345 Custom frame dimensions: 17.5" high x 15" wide © The M.C. Escher Company B.V. Movement from darkness into light is a persistently important theme in Escher's work... Created directly from Escher’s woodblock which he conceived in 1946. Escher was a member of the "Nederlandsche Ex Libris Kring," (a printmaker’s and print collector’s society in The Netherlands) for many years. This engraving was created to honor the Dutch Underground, who had fought so valiantly in WWII, a conflict that had finally ended the year before.
